Nadya Hadun and Yan Yeresko
on Saturday, the 19th of February between 2pm and 6pm
Address: Rigó utca 6-8 II/13, 1084 Budapest
This exceedingly creative couple already graduated from the Fine Arts Academy of Minsk five years ago, but they moved to Budapest after deciding to continue their studies at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. Through lyrical and thoughtful works, they blend the artistic and cultural traditions of their home country with inspirations of their new home.
In Hadun’s works, female figures wear traditional Slavic scarves, while their facial expressions are heavy with the modern woman’s dilemmas and doubts. A touch of the Art Nouveau and golden coloring adds a further element of anachronisms to her works.
Meanwhile, Yeresko’s figures are dissolving in their colorful world, composed of geometrically contrasting urban and natural scenes. The patches of effulgent paint in his emotive still lifes often conglomerate into shapes that resemble recognizable figures, yet their existence seems incidental.
Yan Yeresko: Quietness, 100×75, oil on canvas, 2010
Belarusian vodka and Sümegi wines will be served at the event, sponsored by the Embassy of Belarusia and Sümegi winery.
