Ari Kupsus Gallery is proud to present its first official Debut Exhibition for a young artist who has just graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Budapest. The gallery established a Debut Exhibition prize in last year’s competition for 4th-year students of the Academy to provide an opportunity for a graduate to stage his or her very first solo exhibition in their career. The winner of the first Debut Exhibition prize was Zsófia Margit.
Zsófia, originally from Tirgu-Mures, has been trained as a professional artist since she was 14. During her years of study at the Academy of Fine Arts, she received several scholarships.
Her bright, colorful still-lifes are full of light and femininity, and despite of their playfulness suggest a firm artistic order. Using a traditional, one-point perspective, she merges reality and the picture plane in the viewer’s mind, and shifts the focus to the curious selection of everyday objects we see on the canvas.”
The exhibition will be opened by artist, art historian István Sinkó.
